On April 11, 2006, when our daughter Grace was only 7 years old, the devastating diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes changed her life forever.
Before that terrible diagnosis she was completely healthy. Grace's immune system attacked and killed her own pancreas.
Since that time she has endured almost 23,000 blood tests. She has been given approximately 4,500 shots and 1,660 medical tubing injections. But still, this disease is taking a toll on her other organs.
The JDRF Death Valley cycling event is raising money to fund an artificial pancreas for Grace. This is a very encouraging project that is marching forward with human trials going on right now! This artificial pancreas will change Grace's life and stop the organ failure for her and many others.
